Ben Shapiro, the editor-in-chief of Breitbart News, is a conservative media critic who has criticized President Donald Trump for his comments about Mexicans, immigrants and Muslims.

Mr Shapiro has been in the news recently over comments he made in an interview with the BBC about the violence at a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville.

He has also been criticised for his support for former Vice President Mike Pence, who was recently forced to resign over comments about the Charlottesville violence.

Mr Trump has called Mr Shapiro a “f—ing idiot”, “a disgrace to journalism” and a “disgrace to the country”.

But on Wednesday, Mr Shapiro defended his comments in an article in the Irish Times.

“I have to say that I think we’ve done a good job, at least I think that we have,” Mr Shapiro said.

“The problem with Trump, he doesn’t know anything about the economy and he doesn, frankly, he does not understand that we’re not going back to where we were when we were a very, very strong country.””

“But what we do know is that when we do rebuild the economy, we are going to have to get back to jobs and to the economy.”

And we are not going away, and we are certainly not going anywhere, as I say.
